On the back of the photograph is written "H. E. Bowes" and "Helena Bowes teacher". For further information on Miss Bowes, please consult "Milton Area Biographies, V.2". Helena Bowes was the daughter of George Speer Bowes and Agnes A. Cobban.
Her full name was Elizabeth Helena Bowes and she taught in the Bruce Street school for many years.
