- Born in Czechoslovakia in 1940. With his sister Maria, Otto Jelinek won the gold medal in the 1962 World pairs figure skating championships. He went into business and then entered politics as a Progressive Conservative. He won a seat in Toronto in 1972 and in 1979 switched to represent Halton. He became a Cabinet Minister in Brian Mulroney's government. In 1994 he returned to the Czech Republic. Photograph from "The Canadian Champion"
