Description

John Fleming was born in Milton, the son of James Fleming and Margaret Kerr. He was a member of the 134th Battalion of the 48th Highlanders and served overseas in the First World War. He married Effie Wharton but they did not have any family. He was employed at the Milton Brick Company until 1936, when he was appointed Turnkey of the County Jail and in 1942 he became Governor and held the appointment until his death. He was a member of St. Clair Masonic Lodge, a member of the I.O.O.F. and also St. Paul's United Church. He died in 1946 and was survived by his wife. He was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Milton
