Description
Robert Galbraith was born in Milton in 1874, the son of John Galbraith and Mary E. Bessy. His first wife was Edith Paige (?-1913). They had three daughters. After her death he married Dorothy Harrop in England in 1916. They had three sons and one daughter. He worked for many years for the dry goods store of Hollinrake and Son. In 1907, with his partner A. B. McDougall, he bought the business and Mr. Galbraith ran it for more than forty years. He was a member of the Town Council, the Board of Trade and was also a Milton School Trustee. He was a member of the St. Clair Masonic Lodge, St. Paul's United Church and a member of the Canadian Order of Foresters. He died in 1949, survived by his wife, four daughters and one son. He was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Milton.
