Description
Richard Gollins was born in Shropshire, England in 1866. There he married Elizabeth Alice Transome and they came to Canada and Milton in 1889. They had two daughters. By trade he was a painter and he worked for Alex. Armstrong in Milton. His wife died in 1911 and he married Janet C. (Jennie) Irving. There were no children from this second marriage. Richard Gollins was Bandmaster of the Milton Citizens' Band, choir leader of Grace Anglican Church and choir leader of Knox Presbyterian Church. He died in 1939 and was survived by his second wife and his two daughters, Hilda of Hamilton and Effie of Toronto. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.
