- Elizabeth Harrison was born in 1782 in Devonchire, England. She married Thomas Harrison about 1805; they had eight children, six sons and two daughters. In 1820 the family came to Canada and settled in Trafalgar Township. In 1824 Thomas Harrison died and Elizabeth was left with a large family to raise. At that time a school was opened in Milton and Mrs. Harrison was appointed the first teacher. She died in 1867 and was buried in the Pioneer Cemetery on Bronte Street.
