Description
Alfred Hemstreet was born in Trafalgar Township in 1862, the son of Richard Hemstreet and Rebecca Vodden. He married Frances A. Deforest and they had one child, a daughter. He had a grocery and crockery business on the corner of Mill and Main St. in Acton which he sold to return to farming. In 1908 he purchased the coal business of Messrs. Jerome and Houston in Milton. He died in 1952 and was survived by his daughter, Mrs. McKenzie of Bell River, Ont. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Milton. For further information, see "Milton Area Biographies" by Alex Cooke.
