Description
George Hemstreet was born in Trafalgar Township in 1853 and died in Milton in 1957 in his 104th year. He was the third son of Richard Hemstreet and Rebecca Vodden. In 1881 he married Eliza Adelaide Leach of Oakville and they had two daughters. He left the farm when he was 23 and came to Milton where he became a photographer. He later joined his brother who had opened a dry goods business. He was a Town Councillor and finally spent 26 years as Clerk-Treasurer. He and his wife lived to celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Milton.
