Description
Edward Martin was the son of Jasper Martin and Sarah Coates. He was born in Milton in 1822 and in 1851 he married Mary Anne Fleming of Erie, Pennsylvania. They had eights sons and two daughters. With his partner, John White, he built a new stone mill in Milton after the previous mill was destroyed by fire. They made major improvements in the flow of the stream to the mill including the construction of the Mill Pond as it now is. Edward Martin served on Milton Council and also was Mayor and Reeve. He left Milton in 1865 and moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan. He died in 1885 and was buried in Adrian, Michigan.
