Description
John Maxted was born in Norval, Ont. in 1869, the son of Thomas Maxted and Charlotte Payne who came from England. He married Elizabeth Coulson in 1895 and they had two children, a son and a daughter. His second wife was Jennie Addison. As a builder he constructed several major downtown stores, Knox Church, the Post Office and the C.P.R. Station in addition to many houses. He was Mayor of Milton in 1928. He was a member of Grace Anglican Church. He died in 1971 and was buried in Evergreen Cemetery. For further information, see "Milton Area Biographies" by Alex Cooke.
