Pilot Keith Houston is shown in this 1964 photo with his Piper J-4 Cub. The 28-year-old was just back from Newfoundland after a 10-week assignment where he acted as co-pilot in a Canso amphibian, water-bombing forest fires for the Newfoundland Forest Service.
Keith bought the J-4 cub in 1960 to log flying hours toward a commercial license and kept the plane at the farm of Fred and Mary Bell in Milton (now Maple Avenue and the Home Depot Plaza). After leaving a 10 year job with the Bell Telephone, several jobs followed, including flying instructor at Brampton Flying Club and short stints with Aries Aviation, Kenting Aviation Ltd. and Carl Millard Ltd., of Malton. In 1966 Keith joined Air Canada and enjoyed a 30 year career as airline pilot, retiring in 1996.
