- Description
- Long low brick factory building by railway tracks. Sign saying 'Office Carpenter Bus' over the left hand side of the building but the building is obviously derelict.
- Notes
- Notes provided by Jack Charlton. 'Built in 1908 by C. R. Willmott & Co. to manufacture agriculture implements - however, it soon failed. Different companies then used it for only short periods such as Edward Electrical Co. Ltd. In 1917 P. L. Robertson Co. Ltd. purchased the property to use to manufacture a new modern screw cutting machine. In 1926 it was purchased by Milton Spinning Mills. Closed in 1930 and sold to Sam Smith. Re-opened as a woollen mill in 1935. Later purchased by John P. Pascal(?) and sold in parts. It was used by the Carpenter Bros. Co. who closed doors in the late 1960s and then purchased by John P. Pascal(?) (the land developer who created Milton Mall 1961 to present). Buildings demolished.' The building was situated on the north side of the railway tracks between Court Street North and Martin Street.
July 2012 - e-mail received "Carpenter Bus Works - the building sat right beside Court St. North on the east side, which means it was not Martin St. on the other side. It was really between Court St. N. and Ontario St. - Date of Original
- c. 1960s.
