Dorothea Bowes was born September 25th 1837 in Trafalgar Township, Ontario and died January 18th 1930 in Toronto Ontario, Canada. She was the daughter of Thomas Bowes 1803 – 1881 and Dorothy Willmott 1804 – 1884. Dorothea Bowes married John Coates Willmott 1835 – 1915, son of William Willmott 1806 – 1875 and Ann Coates 1813 – 1894. Dorothea Bowes and John Coates were first cousins. They are buried in Bowes Cemetery, as are their respective parents.
