- Elinor Brown is the sister of Flight Sergeant Charles Peter McLaren who was killed when his plane crashed in Myanmar (Burma) in June 1945. The wreckage was discovered by a hunter in 1990. In 1997, Elinor Brown travelled to Rangoon with relatives of the other airmen on the downed plane for the burial of the remains. Charles McLaren grew up on the family farm in Campbellville in the area where McLaren Avenue is now situated. For further information see "The Canadian Champion", March 18, 1977, p.8.
