- William J. Armstrong Sr. was the son of William Armstrong and Isabella Bryans. He served on Milton Town Council, was secretary of the Milton Fire Brigade, served on the executive of of the Independent Order of Foresters, was Secretary of the Milton Bicycle Club and Secretary Treasurer of the Milton Methodist Church Sunday School. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Orange Lodge. In Milton, he built and lived at 186 Sarah St. He moved with his family in 1902 to Toronto where he was Assistant Inspector in the Building Department at Toronto City Hall.
