Charles Rasberry was born on July 22, 1836,the eldest son of William and Rebecca Rasberry. He married Melissa Van Norman about 1869. Charles and his wife left the Rasberry homestead and moved to Kilbride where they raised a family of nine. Charles operated a hotel for a short time. The hotel which was located on the site of the current gas station burned to the ground. The family moved to a house on a small farm about 1/2 mile east of Kilbride. Charles drove the stage coach from Milton to Hamilton and also was a mail carrier in the area for many years.
Their fourth eldest child, Robert Edgar Rasberry was born in KIlbride in 1875. Robert married Margaret Mitchell on March 28, 1900 at her family's farm on the 11th concession in NAssagaweya Township.

Melissa Rasberry died of pneumonia in June 1891 at the age of 41. Eventally Charles married Elizabeth Jane (Eaton) Griffin. Charles was an extremely hardworking individual. It was said that he never missed a day's work in 35 years except for his wedding day. Charles died on March 24, 1916 and is buried in Kilbride Pioneer Cemetery.
